Councilwoman Mydera Robinson

Here's where I stand:

Norristown is at a critical moment - a moment where we must decide what kind of community we want to be. I am running for office to ensure Norristown grows with intention, equity, and opportunity.

We face key challenges that require bold and balanced leadership:

  • Economic Revitalization – We need to attract and retain businesses, create local jobs, and invest in workforce training so that residents can thrive where they live.

  • Housing Stability – We must protect renters and homeowners, hold landlords accountable, and work to ensure Norristown is not overextended in serving the county’s most vulnerable populations.

  • Public Safety & Community Trust – We need strategies that reduce crime, build relationships between law enforcement and residents, and invest in prevention programs for youth and families.

  • Infrastructure & Connectivity – We must improve roads, walkability, and community spaces to make Norristown a more welcoming and vibrant place to live and work.

I believe Norristown can be a model corridor community - a town that leverages its strategic location to attract investment, support residents, and foster sustainable growth. But to get there, we must make intentional, community-driven decisions that benefit our residents first.

This is Personal

I am not just running for office – I am running for my home. I was born and raised in Norristown. I’ve seen this town’s resilience, its challenges, and its untapped potential.

I know what it means to fight for better opportunities, to push for change when systems fail, and to ensure that those who have been historically overlooked have a say in decision making.

This work isn’t just about policy – it’s about people. It’s about the families and individuals who work hard every day yet struggle to keep up with rising costs. It’s about the young people who need mentors, safe spaces, and opportunities to see a future for themselves in the place they call home. It’s about our seniors that deserve quality and supportive care. It’s about parents like me, who want to raise our children in a thriving, safe, and connected community.

I’ve witnessed businesses struggle, families get priced out, and hardworking people be left behind. I’ve seen our community do its best with the resources it has, but I also know we deserve better. As a parent, I carry that urgency even more. I refuse to let our children inherit a Norristown where opportunity is out of reach, where public safety is a constant concern, where homeownership is out of grasp, or where businesses can’t sustain themselves. I want my children and all of Norristown to see a town that invests in it’s people, one that creates opportunities for them, and that makes them proud to stay, build, and grow here.

This isn’t a political exercise for me – it’s personal. I believe in Norristown. I have chosen to raise my family here because I know the heart of this town is strong. And I refuse to accept that we can’t create the future our residents deserve. We are not stuck. We are ready. And I am ready to work towards the Norristown that we all know is possible.

I bring the right mix of lived experience, leadership, creativity and vision:

  • A Deep Commitment to Norristown – As a lifelong resident, I understand this community’s history, strengths, and needs. I don’t see Norristown from the outside – I live its reality every day.

  • Proven Leadership & Community Investment – I have worked for years as a business owner, community leader, and advocate – bridging gaps between residents, organizations/businesses, and decision-makers.

  • A Holistic Approach to Progress – I can see the big picture: Economic growth, housing, safety, and infrastructure must work together for true change. I will advocate for policies that balance growth with sustainability, economic development with equity, and public safety with community trust.

  • Transparency & Accountability – I lead with integrity, honesty, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people I serve. I believe our local government should be open, accessible, and responsive to the needs of its residents.

I am a creative strategist – I am a problem solver, a bridge-builder, and someone who is deeply invested in Norristown’s future.

I believe in thoughtful and effective policy

Policy must be intentional, data-driven, evidence-based, and community-centered. I will continue to engage with residents, local businesses, and community stakeholders to ensure policies reflect our community’s actual needs, not outside interests.

I will focus on:

  • Creating Jobs & Strengthening Small Businesses – We must remove barriers to entrepreneurship, support workforce training, and attract businesses that invest in Norristown’s future.

  • Responsible Housing Solutions – Norristown must be a place where people can afford to live and thrive without disproportionately bearing the burden of regional housing crises. This means we must prioritize fair housing policies, accountability for absentee landlords, and sustainable development.

  • Improving Public Safety Without Over-Policing – We need community-driven safety initiatives, investment in youth programs, and stronger trust between law enforcement and residents.

  • Investing in Public Spaces & Infrastructure – Our streets, parks, and transit systems should reflect a community on the rise – clean, connected, and safe for everyone.

I will push for smart policies that empower residents, protect and reflect our community’s identity, and position Norristown for long-term success.

Why Me, Why Now?

Norristown is at a turning point. We cannot afford passive leadership, outdated thinking, or short-term fixes.

  • Our town is growing, but we must ensure that growth benefits Norristown residents first.

  • Our economy is shifting, and we need leaders who will create opportunity, not just talk about it.

  • Our community deserves a strong, strategic, and transparent voice advocating for its needs.

I have already proven my dedication to this community – As an active member of this community, Community Leader, and most recently in serving as your At-Large Council Member, working alongside neighbors and stakeholders, and driving real progress. But there is more work to do.

This is Norristown’s moment to step forward, invest in its people, and create the future we all deserve.

Let’s not wait for change – let’s build it together.

Together, We Can Turn Potential into Real Progress – Elect Councilwoman Mydera Robinson for Council At-Large.
