Meet Councilwoman Mydera Robinson

I am Councilwoman At- Large Mydera Robinson - lifelong Norristown resident, artist, mother, organizer, and advocate for the future we all deserve.
I was born and raised right here in Norristown. I come from a family of caregivers, community stewards, and faith leaders who taught me early on that leadership isn’t about titles - it’s about taking responsibility for yourself and the people you serve. From block parties to food pantries, from school halls to council chambers, my life has been shaped by a deep love for this town and the people who call it home.
I am a proud graduate of Norristown Area High School, where I learned how to speak up for what’s right - even when it wasn’t easy. My organizing work began not in a political space, but on my front porch, listening to neighbors share frustrations, dreams, and visions of what this community could be if we had what we needed to thrive.
After years of volunteer service and coalition building, I was appointed into Council because I believe that Norristown deserves bold, compassionate leadership that is present, accountable, and grounded in the real-life experiences of everyday people. I was honored to be appointed At-Large, and from day one, I’ve worked hard to bring a new level of transparency, partnership, and action to our local government.
Some highlights of my work so far:
-
Town Halls and Community Events across all wards to hear directly from residents - not just during election season, but year-round.
-
Advocating for more equitable funding for community services, including youth programs and mental health support.
-
Pushing for real accountability in how decisions are made at the municipal level - because residents should have input and understanding in what's happening.
-
Supporting small businesses and local-owned enterprises, recognizing that economic strength starts at the grassroots.
-
Creating pathways for civic and community engagement, especially for young people, so that leadership and power is not limited to the few but shared by the many.
What drives me is simple: I believe Norristown is worthy. Worthy of joy. Worhty of safety. Worthy of investment. And worthy of a future that reflects the brilliance and resilience of the people who live here.
I’m not here to simply do this work for you. I’m here to do it with you. That’s why I am committed to my PACT to Norristown - a shared commitment to Partnership, Accountability, Collaboration, and Transparency.
I’ve spent my career in community investment - bringing people together, building partnerships, and pushing for the resources Norristown has long been denied. As your Councilwoman, I bring that same energy to the table every day. I ask hard questions. I lead with care, clarity, compassion, and courage.
What I Bring to the Table:
-
Over a decade of experience working with grassroots organizations, nonprofits, artists, educators, and local leaders to build programs and real results
-
A track record of working for our community and youth
-
Deep knowledge of Norristown’s challenges, and deeper love for its potential
-
An unwavering belief that public service should be grounded in compassion, consistency, and community trust
This Isn’t Just Where I Live. This Is Who I Am.
I’m raising my family here. I walk these blocks. I know what’s broken - and I know what’s beautiful. I believe Norristown is worth believing in, and I’m proud to do that work with you and for you.
Together, we’ve made powerful strides - and we're just getting started.
This campaign is about care for our community - for our neighborhoods, our families, and our future.
It’s about partnership, accountability, collaboration, transparency, and a commitment to the well-being of everyone who calls Norristown home.
